Ouch! Sorry to see that. Looks like you have a big plant there with lots of branches so I personally would cut that particular branch off and allow the plant to focus its energy on the healthy branches.

Starting with a half dose is a good idea. Some prefer to start with even less, a 1/4 dose instead. Many will mix up the nutrients and then pH adjust without waiting 2-8 hours like you read on the internet. Waiting 2-8 hours before adding pH up/down is an over-precautious method.

Yes, many people prefer a slurry test vs runoff since it can be more accurate. Although both ways won’t give you a 100% accurate measurement, it will give you a general idea what it is so you can make adjustments as necessary.

Did you happen to see my article that I wrote on the cross?:
    https://mrgrowit.com/post/chill-out-og-brisker-og-pakistan-valley/

With the F1 generation, you could either get short phenos that stay squat like the mother (Pakistan Valley) or long stretchy phenos like the father (Brisker OG). If you get a squat pheno then you might not want to train at all; if you get a stretchy pheno then a topping at the 4th or 5th node will help the lower node sites grow to create an even canopy. I consider it an easy, somewhat heavy feeder. Let me know if you have any questions.

Yup see if you can complete it.

I assume you’re in soil? What brand soil? Yes, a water-only next time will help lower the EC.

Nice recovery! I’m so happy to see that. To answer your questions:

Question: “Should I use PH 7.0 PPM 0.0 water only first to see what the numbers are, then feed with the needed adjustments?”
I would just feed in a mixture that I think would get me to the 1000-1600 PPM range. I like that range for flowering.

Question: “Any suggestions on trimming at this stage or anything else, or am I doing ok?”
I wouldn’t take much off her right now. What day of flower are you on? Maybe a few leaves in the middle of the canopy so light can get down in like you mention, and that will help with air flow through the plant as well.

    Very nice job!

I hope she recovers for ya! The mix you mention, was that a full dose? Half dose? or what? Also, what week on the feeding schedule are you feeding at?

Generally people will keep their reservoir within a certain EC/PPM range and adjust the dosage so it’s in that range. Are you aiming for specific ranges for the different stages of plant growth?

    Here are my notes:

    • Spectrum looks fine for plant growth
    • Looks like old school technology w/ Veg&Bloom switch and “blurple” spectrum
    • Uses active cooling instead of passive so there is a chance for a cooling fan to break and render the light useless.
    • Doesn’t specify what diode brand is used.
    • PAR chart doesn’t show what the area is, maybe 3’x3′? Light drops off significantly it as moves towards corners.
    • Doesn’t list PPF.
    • Lists 2.7 umol/j (which is pretty good) but I have a feeling that’s the diode efficiency and not total unit efficiency.
    • Doesn’t specify what driver(s) are used.
    • Specifying LED power as 1000W is a misleading tactic. Actual power draw then says 230W
    • Price seems right for this technology

If you’re on a budget and just looking to get by with decent plant growth then this light should be fine for that.

Ahh the webbing on the flowers. Sorry to see that man.

Cool to see you are growing Chill Out OG now!

9 times out of 10, a picture isn’t enough to determine what is wrong with a plant. A lot of background information is needed. Let’s start with… What is the pH and PPM of the soil runoff? What grow light are you using and how far away is it from the top of the plants? What nutrients have you been feeding the plant and how often?

List of more info that can be included so we can diagnose faster:

Sorry for the lack of response while I was on vacation. The general pH range for DWC is 5.5-6.5, with many staying in the 5.8-6.2 range. So your pH of 6.8 is high. I’m not sure I fully understand the other stuff you mention; so are you saying you mix up the nutrients into water and the pH doesn’t drop at all? Do you have any pH Down on hand? How much water are you mixing into and how many ML of each bottle?

Sorry for the lack of response here. I assume you’ve already figured it out by now but I’ll still answer. When you see salt buildup, whether around the holes like you have or it’s often seen around the soil-line in the grow pot, it doesn’t automatically mean there is a problem and that a flush is required. pH and EC measurements will give you a better idea of direction – so I’m glad you were able to get those measurements.

The pH of 4.7 you mention is low and that may be what is causing a lack of nutrient uptake. EC is about right for the stage of growth and size of the plant; some may go a bit higher but it’s debatable.

It’s been about 12 days since your last post; how is the plant looking now?
