Hello Everyone,
Though I’ve learnt a lot from a variety of sources and am relatively new to indoor gardening, I’m hoping for some particular guidance to improve my setup. I want to make the most of my little indoor grow space and increase my production as much as possible.
Here’s a quick rundown of my configuration:
- Size of Grow Area: 4 x 4 feet
- Lighting: Full-spectrum 600W LED lighting
- Growing media: a combination of perlite and coco coir
- A well-balanced mixture of nutrients (for both the vegetative and blooming periods)
- Ventilation: oscillating fan and inline fan with carbon filter.
I’ve read that preserving ideal circumstances is essential for optimising yield, so I’m concentrating on a few important areas:
Light Distance and Intensity: What is the best distance to keep the lights from the canopy to avoid light stress while maximizing coverage and intensity?
Nutrient Feeding Schedule: How often should I be feeding my plants, and are there any specific nutrient formulations or additives that can significantly boost yield?
Environmental Control: What are the ideal temperature and humidity ranges for each growth stage? I’m using a basic hygrometer and thermometer but would appreciate any tips on maintaining consistent conditions.
Training Techniques: Are there any training techniques or pruning methods that can help improve yields in a 4×4 space?Any insights or personal experiences with similar setups would be greatly appreciated. I’m eager to learn and improve my indoor growing skills.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Question: What is the best distance to keep the lights from the canopy to avoid light stress while maximizing coverage and intensity?
Response: Which brand and model LED grow light are you using? Once we know that, we can give you an idea of light distance.Question: How often should I be feeding my plants, and are there any specific nutrient formulations or additives that can significantly boost yield?
Response: Do you have a pH meter and a TDS tester? What nutrient lineup are you using? Frequency of feeding will depend on which nutrients you use.Question: What are the ideal temperature and humidity ranges for each growth stage?
Response: Check out these VPD charts which show you for the stage of growth you’re in, what the relative humidity should be for the temperature you’re running. I personally like to run 80-82°F throughout the whole grow cycle, but some growers run higher or lower temps than that. More info on VPD is here: https://mrgrowit.com/post/what-is-the-best-vpd-for-cannabis/Question: Are there any training techniques or pruning methods that can help improve yields in a 4×4 space?
Response: Look into low-stress training, topping, and super cropping. Also look into lollipopping and defoliation. -
