First post. I tried to search and didnt get any results about this so Id like to ask.

Does anyone reuse their Promix? I have been purchasing bales for years and either toss it in a pile in the yard or bag it and trash it. Either way it seems wasteful.

I grow with salt nutes but include photosynthesis plus with the nutrient solution, which i feed every watering.

I have tried to reuse Promix in the past with varying degrees to success but the biggest issue is the root mass of the 5 gal buckets and its a bit labor intensive and time consuming to bust it all up, not to mention that it makes a huge mess indoors.

I have let buckets “age” after harvest and after some time the stalk lifts right out, like plant material has decayed enough that the roots no longer hold the main stalk anymore but this takes a long time. That seems like the best option but isnt really efficiently realistic in my opinion.

Maybe im just over thinking this becuase Promix is cheap, i mean whats $45 per cycle, right? Idk

    I would absolutely reuse it:

get a 37 gallon tote from home depot for $10.00

put the root ball in there and chop it up with a shovel

    remove the large pieces/roots

repot and water with your normal nutrient solution

use a lower PH of 5.5 (more acidic dissolves participated minerals)  until the runoff matches your input nutrients and your ready to plant

this takes the same about of time as tossing it in the trash and in the mean time you can store other things in the tote (buckets/measuring cups) etc… its a win win
