ParticipantAll,
I’m on my first attempt at growing a plant indoors. I purchased the “7 Steps” book from Mr. Grow It, and am early in the 5th week of growth past the sprouting. I believe I am in the vegetative stage, and am doing the 18/6 light cycle. Unfortunately, I don’t recall what specific seed I bought, except that I did buy it from a seedbank in California; I also don’t recall if it was an auto-flower seed (sorry!).
The single plant has just developed it’s 5th node, and has little nodes emerging in the 1st through 5th nodes as well.
On the first node, each leaf only had one petal. For the second through 4th nodes, each leaf has three petals. On the 5th node, the leaves have five petals.
From pictures I’ve seen in the book, and here on the forum, as well as elsewhere, most leaves seem to have seven petals.
Is there anything to learn from the current status of the leaves on my plant?
Thanks.
Linus

ParticipantI went back and checked my receipt.
The seed is Humboldt Seed Company OG Kush Triploid Autoflower.

KeymasterNot all plants will produce seven-finger leaves. I think it mostly comes down to the health of the plant and how big it is. But if you’re growing in small containers indoors, five-finger leaves are sufficient.

ParticipantThank you for the reply.
Another question…I’m about to proceed with LST (Low Stress Training). When I bend the plant over, most of the nodes along what will be the horizontal stem of the plant only have nodes with leaves that have 3-fingers.
Will those develop into 5 (or 7) finger leaves which will then flower at the appropriate time?
Thanks again!

KeymasterYeah absoutely. As the plant continues to grow bigger, you should see more 5 and possibly 7-finger leaves.

ParticipantThank you again for the prompt answers.
The LST went well and the plant responded overnight.
The plant is on Day 46, post sprout, and it looks like it’s starting to flower/bud.
Should I switch to 12/12 light cycle?
The seed information said this would auto-flower around Day 80, so it seems early to go to 12/12.
Thanks,
Linus

ParticipantFurther, from the book, I read that you recommend leaving autoflower seeds on 18/6 for their entire life cycle, so I’ve left it there, and switched the LED light to the “Fruit/Flower” mode.

KeymasterSorry for the delayed response. How is the plant looking?

ParticipantNo problem! I’m on Day 62, and early in the 3rd week of flowering. I think I got some light nutrient burn, so I flushed things and will go back to feeding in a few days.

ParticipantNo problem! I’m on Day 62, early in the 3rd week of flowering, doing 18/6 (as this is an auto-flower plant):
