Just started my 30 gallon bas 3.0. I’ve got my 12 seed cover crop coming in nicely. Was going to add craft blend about 30 days in(?) I have stash blend to add in with every water also. How early can you start using stash blend and stash blend would be replacing rootwise microbe complete correct? You wouldn’t need to use both right?
October 23, 2024 at 5:38 am #4468mrgrowitKeymasterYou can start Stash Blend right away. Correct, you can eliminate rootwise microbe complete if using Stash Blend instead.

I added stash blend to my 3rd watering and noticed the leaves looked burnt. My vpd average is .86kpa. I’ve been using ecowitt and watering about 5% my soil capacity and that keeps the eccowit between 25 and 40. The ro water I use is 41 ppm with the .5 teaspoon of stash blend the ppm was 80 ppm. If it isn’t from the stash blend what could it be? I’ve don’t nothing but that and ro water. Pic is 4 days after stash blend was added.

With your water already at 41 ppm, adding more nutrients could make it too much for them. Also, take a look at other things like light levels or water quality, as those could be causing the leaf burn too!

Stash Blend with the 3.0 soil mix could be a bit hot, especially if the plants are young or sensitive to nutrients. Even though your ppm doesn’t seem too high, some plants can still show signs of stress from nutrient-rich amendments like Stash Blend, especially if they’re added before the plants are fully established.
Since you’ve only added RO water and Stash Blend, other possible causes might be environmental. Double-check your VPD (0.86 kPa) since it’s on the lower side; some plants might prefer it slightly higher, closer to 1.0 kPa, to optimize transpiration and nutrient uptake. Also, consider holding off on the Stash Blend for a week or so to see if the new growth improves without further amendments. This can help you narrow down if it’s a nutrient issue or something else. Good luck, and keep us posted!
November 2, 2024 at 5:57 am #4492GadamsParticipantHere is how she looks now before I did a heavey defoliation. I’ve added nothing but ro water. It looks like there still is a little burning on the tips. I’m using hlg rspec 550. I’m not sure the exact height. But with the photon app and diffuser it was like 300 ppfd. It’s turned all the way down. I actually thought that was low so I dropped it a few inches to 400ppfd now. I may even drop it some more over the next few days. If I turn the light up I end up with to much heat.
November 3, 2024 at 6:41 am #4500mrgrowitKeymasterThe plant looks pretty healthy overall. Looks like that little bit of burning isn’t doing anything detrimental to it. Nice job so far.
